Four Questions About Built By DAO
How projects are funded, what contribution credit means, what qualifying rent earns and what Built By DAO has built so far.

1. How Is a Project Funded?
A project needs an authorized, funded budget before contribution credit can be issued. Treasury and partner decisions determine where that budget comes from. The dashboard shows balances, allocations and spending limits so the resources assigned to a project can be followed.
The budget and review serve two parts of the process: resources must be available for credit, and the work must meet its agreed standard. Completing a task does not create funding on its own.
Authorize and Fund
The project has an approved budget with resources in place before credit is issued.
Define and Review
The task states what is expected. Review checks the result and accepts its supporting evidence.
Confirm the Credit
Issuance also requires the authorized funded release, the member’s good standing and a confirmed transaction.

Eligible, reviewed work earns contribution credit. It gives contributors standing and weight in governance: a way to help shape decisions about the organization they are helping to build. That is the stake the contribution record represents.
It is not pay, legal equity or a direct property share. The credit cannot be bought, sold or transferred, and there is no member cash-out. Contributor voting power is earned through eligible work; capital does not become that power.

3. What Does Renting Earn?
When a qualifying member property opens, Housing Loyalty would record credit earned through verified base rent. The rate is set for the lease term, normally 5 to 15 percent, with 10 percent standard. The resident receives credit once for each qualifying period.
Rent remains due in cash. The credit does not give title, reduce future rent, satisfy underwriting requirements, guarantee admission to another property or create a fixed cash redemption right. It also does not add Contributor voting weight. It records qualifying rent, separately from the reviewed work that earns contribution credit.
4. What Exists Today?
The dashboard is built and live. It coordinates membership, work, review, contribution credit, housing credit, governance and treasury. The first cohort begins coming in by invitation on November 1, 2026, a few people at a time.
No building, hub or member property is open yet. The Foundry is planned, Detroit and Chicago are the likely first two hub cities, and no site has been chosen. The planned hub would recover materials, train builders and support construction. The November membership start is not an opening date for a hub or home.
