The Mandate
The people who build a place should own a piece of it.
Every generation gets told the same story: work hard, pay your rent, wait your turn. And every generation watches the value it creates get collected by someone who was never in the room. We are done waiting our turn. This is the mandate we build by.
The diagnosis
Communities do not have an income problem. They have an ownership problem. Wages come in. Rent, profit, and decisions go out.
The extraction is not a glitch in the system. For the people who own it, it is the system. So we are not asking that system to behave better. We are building the alternative next door.

The spread between the top of this organization and the bottom stays a bridge, not a canyon.

The books stay open.
Proposals, votes, and treasury moves live on a public ledger anyone can audit.
05 · Profitability
Profit is fuel, not the point.
We build ventures that sustain themselves so the mission never has to beg.
06 · Responsible Activity
We answer to the block.
Every project is judged by what it does to the neighborhood around it.
07 · Protected Assets
What the community builds, the community keeps.
Core assets are protected from capture, flip, and sale out from under the people who made them.
What we're doing about it
Built By DAO is these commitments running in production. A community-owned development network where rent converts to equity, contribution earns ownership, capital works inside hard guardrails, and every record is public.
Housing is the anchor. Workshops, storefronts, and shared infrastructure follow. Not a whitepaper. A build site.
