What is Built By DAO?

Built By DAO is a decentralized autonomous organization that democratizes housing ownership. We buy and develop real estate, then offer equity-building leases where 10% of your rent converts to EQT ownership credits.

Is this just another real estate fund?

No. Real estate is the anchor asset. The model is community ownership and collective governance across housing, commercial space, and local infrastructure.

How is this different from REITs?

Who can join?

Anyone can join the community. Renters apply through our waitlist. Investors need to meet accreditation requirements based on their chosen tier.

Can someone just buy influence?

The governance model is explicitly structured with tier multipliers and a ceiling, plus non-transferability on investor positions. No one can accumulate permanent control.

How does rent turn into equity?

Equity-building leases convert a portion of rent (typically 7–12%) into EQTBLT. The exact rate is set by governance per market.

How does the 10% equity work?

Each month, 10% of your rent payment is automatically converted into EQT (equity tokens) that represent your ownership stake in the property. These accumulate over time and can be used toward a down payment or cashed out.

Do I have to live in a property to earn equity?

No. You can earn EQTBLT through contributions and participation. Residents earn it through rent conversion as well.

How do I qualify as a renter?

Join our waitlist with your preferences. When a property matches, you'll go through a standard rental application process. No crypto knowledge required.

Can I use my EQT for a down payment?

Yes! That's the primary goal. Your accumulated EQT can be applied toward purchasing a Built By DAO property, or you can cash out if you prefer.

What happens to my EQT if I move?

Your EQT stays with you. If you move out of a Built By DAO property, your equity credits remain in your account. You can cash out, transfer, or apply them later.

Are rents market rate?

Rents are competitive with local market rates. The 10% equity conversion is built into the existing rent — you don't pay extra for the equity benefit.

What's the investor exit plan?

The financial plan describes a time-bound approach: target IRR range of 8–12%, preferred return framing, and a 3–5 year partial exit window with a longer optional horizon.

What returns can I expect?

We project 6-10% annual returns from a combination of rental income and property appreciation. However, past performance is not indicative of future results and all investments carry risk.

What's the minimum investment?

Our Angel tier starts at $10,000 with 5 subtiers up to $250K. VentureOne starts at $500K, and Trust tier starts at $5M. Each tier offers increasing governance multipliers, BLTBY token rates, and dedicated support.
