Shared spaces

Make shared places part of everyday life.

A community space becomes useful when members can plan around it. Built By DAO connects shared spaces, work bays and bookable equipment with a clear way to reserve time and understand the terms.

Our ambition is for community infrastructure to expand what members can do: somewhere to work, make, meet or develop a project, with access organized around resources people share. A reservation turns an available place into a concrete part of your plan.

Shared capacity needs a way to become usable time.

A space has opening hours, a finite schedule and responsibilities for the people using it. Members need to know when they can come and what that commitment involves. Operators need a record of what is reserved so they can manage the resource.

Booking brings those needs together. Choose an available day and slot from the resource’s approved schedule, review the price and any deposit, then confirm the reservation. Your bookings keep the time you hold visible alongside the status and actions available for each one.

The practical value is the ability to plan a project around shared access. A member can reserve the resource they need for a specific period, while the rest of its schedule remains available for other members to use.

Understand the commitment before reserving.

The time and place

Choose from the resource’s available slots. The booking shows the day and local times in the resource’s time zone, so your plan refers to the same period the operator manages.

The cost and deposit

The booking fee and any refundable deposit appear separately. You can understand what pays for the reservation and what is held as a deposit before confirming the action.

The cancellation terms

Read the cancellation deadline for your selected slot. If your plans change, the reservation’s available actions and terms explain the next step, including any applicable refund process.

An illustrative shared workshop

One space can support many different projects.

Imagine a member preparing components for a community project. They need a work bay for a defined session. They choose an available slot, read its fee, deposit and cancellation terms, and wait for the booking to confirm before planning around the reservation.

Another member can plan around a different available session. The operator has a common reservation record to help organize use of the space. When a booking changes, its recorded status gives everyone involved a clearer basis for the next step.

This is the larger possibility of shared infrastructure: one community asset supporting a range of member activity over time. Reliable access arrangements help people make use of that capacity and care for something that others will use after them.

Support an ongoing routine where services are offered.

Some shared services suit recurring access rather than a single reservation. Amenity Access lets members review the optional plans offered to them, their billing schedule and exact price, then choose monthly or prepaid access where supported.

A member’s plan shows its current status, paid-through date and any remaining prepaid periods. Members can view periods used and manage cancellation or other available next steps. The service plan and a reservation describe different commitments; follow the requirements of the resource you intend to use.

Check the confirmed reservation or active plan status before relying on access. A submitted request or payment awaiting confirmation is still in progress. The specific spaces, services and times available depend on what the community offers.
