Community mutual aid

Build a community that can show up for its people.

Participation is also about helping one another through difficult moments. Built By DAO brings shared support into an organized process: members can contribute to a fund, ask for help and take part in deciding how available resources are used.

The ambition is a community with the capacity to respond together, with care for the person asking and a clear record of the decision and payment.

Prepare a request on your own terms

When a fund is open, an eligible active contributor can write an amount, category and reason for support. Saving creates a draft that the requester can review and edit before sending it to a vote.

Drafts are visible to the requester and leaders. Sending a request to a vote shares the requester’s name, amount and reason with active contributors. The app explains that audience before submission so the person asking can decide what to share.

Give support a community decision

Eligible contributors can vote for, against or abstain during the request’s voting window. The requester cannot vote on their own request. The fund’s participation and approval rules are fixed for that request when it is sent for voting.

That creates a shared way to consider need, rather than leaving every request to an informal conversation with no clear outcome. Members can follow the request and result within the fund.

Connect a positive decision with real follow-through

An approved request moves into the payment process. An authorized leader prepares the payment, available fund resources must cover it, and the app records the result after confirming the transfer.

Members can also contribute to the fund. The contribution record follows the confirmed transfer so the fund reflects resources received, with a clear distinction between a submitted payment and a completed one.

Approval and payment are separate steps. The aim is support people can follow through to its outcome, without promising resources the fund does not have.

Resilience is something a community builds

A shared fund gives individual acts of support a place to accumulate and a process for deciding where they can help. Over time, that can strengthen the relationships that keep people connected to a community as their circumstances change.

The feature currently operates within the limited launch environment. Financial features are not yet available for real-value use; an open fund, member eligibility and available resources determine which actions can proceed.
