Member-shaped decisions

Help shape what the community does next.

The people contributing to a community should have a meaningful part in its direction. Built By DAO connects member proposals with a decision process that carries a clear action, records the result and defines what can happen next.

The ambition is participation with consequence: local knowledge and lived contribution helping shape shared priorities, alongside the responsibility needed to carry them out.

Make an idea clear enough to act on

A proposal gives an idea a description, a category and a specific action. An eligible proposer can prepare it, review the current requirements and put it forward for voting. The category determines who needs to participate and which rules apply.

That connection matters. Members can judge both the purpose and the action being requested, then follow the same proposal through voting, the result and any permitted execution. A vote to pass an action and carrying out that action remain separate steps.

Keep different responsibilities visible

Contribution

The Contributor house represents eligible contribution. Its voting rules recognize contribution history with bounded weighting.

Investment

The Investor house participates where the category requires it. Investment standing has its own role rather than replacing the contributor voice.

Stewardship

The Council house records consent or reasoned objections under the proposal rules. It brings a separate responsibility for stewardship.

A proposal identifies the required houses and their results. The process establishes eligible voters and voting facts before the vote, so a decision has a defined basis rather than a moving set of expectations.

Let expertise groups decide at the right scale

Guilds bring together members around shared expertise. An eligible guild member can open a local proposal, and guild members can vote once each. A majority of votes cast decides the local result; a tie does not pass.

When an active local matter exceeds guild scope, a member can escalate it with a reason. The app connects that escalation with the wider proposal process. It gives a local concern a path to wider consideration while preserving the requirements of the main decision.

In an illustrative case, a guild could consider an approach to its work, then escalate a matter that needs broader authority. The benefit is a route for knowledge close to the work to reach the people responsible for the larger decision.

Follow a decision through to its result

  1. Read the proposal, intended action and rules for your participation.
  2. Cast an eligible vote and follow confirmation, deadlines and house results.
  3. After voting, follow finalization. A passed proposal waits its required cooling-off period before its permitted action can execute.
  4. Check the execution result. Passing a proposal does not itself complete a project or guarantee funding.

The dashboard makes those stages visible so members can distinguish an idea receiving support from an action actually being carried out.
